NOTTING HILL

Portobello road - The famous Portobello Road Market in Notting Hill, with its antiques and flea market finds, takes place every Saturday - although there are also stalls from Monday to Friday. It is a colourful, dynamic stretch of London that oozes trendiness and fun. On Saturday, it's huge, with over 2,000 stalls, selling everything from books to bric-a-brac and lace to Limoges - even fashion and exotic cooking ingredients are on sale. Thousands of people mill around browsing second-hand clothing stalls or choosing outlandish material. For those who have the patience to search, there are some fantastic bargains. This really is the place to shop-and-eat and then shop some more.A market has been held here since 1837...

The Royal Festival Hall

Symphony Nr. 7

Last night I had the opportunity
to hear
Lorin Maazel and the London Philharmonic
Orchestra presented the performance
of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No 7
 in The Royal Festival Hall.

*
This was to be performed in celebration of
the 150th anniversary of the composer’s birth
on July 7, 1860 and the 100th anniversary
of his death on May 18, 1911
