Symphony Nr. 7

Last night I had the opportunity

to hear

Lorin Maazel and the London Philharmonic

Orchestra presented the performance

 of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No 7

 in The Royal Festival Hall.

  This was to be performed in celebration of

the 150th anniversary of the composer’s birth

 on July 7, 1860 and the 100th anniversary

 of his death on May 18, 1911

Royal Festival Hall stands at the heart

of Southbank Centre complex by

 the River Thames, with sweeping views

of the capital from the London Eye

 to St Paul's Cathedral

and was opened in 1951

as part of the Festival of Britain
