Barcelona is the second largest city in Spain and the capital city of Catalonia. This place has won the esteemed 1999 RIBA Royal Gold Medal, mainly because of the structural designs of edifices. Not all cities have had the prestige of having that award. It used to be just architects who win awards like these, but Barcelona has pretty much done it as a city. Part of these sites are works of the celebrated architect Antoni Gaudi, responsible for the great but still-in-progress temple of the Sagrada Familia (construction of this started in year 1882 and is due for completion in 2026).
Barcelona is one of the best places in the world to appreciate the Mediterranean atmosphere.

For me the one of the most brilliant jewels of universal architecture is the Alhambra (in Andalusia) a series of palaces and gardens built under the Nazari Dynasty in the 14th C...

THE TAURUS MAN
Photobucket
.
The Taurean's characteristics are solidity, practicality, extreme determination and strength of will - no one will ever drive them, but they will willingly and loyally follow a leader they trust. They are faithful and generous friends with a great capacity for affection
Photobucket
When you first meet a Taurus Man, you immediately realize you're standing in the presence of someone very special. One of greatness, in fact. The steadfast calm nature that you see before you is only a prelude to a man full of passion and romance. There is no one quite as methodical or careful when choosing his soul mate, but once his queen has been decided, she will not only be held forever in his heart, but entwined into his soul. Extremely loyal and faithful, the Taurus Man, puts others to shame in his undying devotion to the woman by his side
Photobucket
To love a Taurus Man will be deliciously gratifying and divinely inspirational. A silver-screen Cassanova on one hand and a most fulfilling best friend on the other. Hopes and dreams will be easily shared under the glistening stars. Fate will never seem so glorious. His hand over yours will send tingles down your spine weather it be your first meeting or across the table on your golden anniversary. If you treasure this man half as much as he treasures you, you'll be on your way to earthly ecstasy

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY

*
My mother was so sweet
Sweeter than all sweets you eat'
She was gentle and kind
and worked by using her mind.
Her ears were sharp like a knife
and she was a perfect wife.
If someone was in need, oh dear
My sweet mother was always there

Creating Our Own Happiness

*

*
I believe we have the power to create our own happiness. I believe the real magic in the world is done by humans. I believe normal life is extraordinary.
*
I was sitting in my car at a stoplight intersection listening to the radio. I was, I guess, lost in the moment, thinking how happy I was to be inside my warm car. It was cold and windy outside, and I thought, "Life is good."
*
Now, this was a long light. As I waited, I noticed two people huddled together at the bus stop. To my eyes, they looked uncomfortable; they looked cold and they looked soggy.
*
The couple seemed to be doing their best to keep warm. They were huddled together, and I thought to myself, "Oh, those poor people in that punishing wind."
*
But then I saw their faces. Yes, they were laughing. They looked to be sharing a good joke, and suddenly, instead of pitying them, I envied them. I thought, "Huh, what's so funny?"
*
They didn't notice the wind. They weren't worried about their clothes. They weren't looking at my car thinking, "I wish I had that."
*
You know when a single moment feels like an hour? Well, in that moment, I realized I had assumed this couple needed my pity, but they didn't.
*
I assumed things were all bad for them, but they weren't. And I understood we all have the power to make moments of happiness happen.
*
I believe this is something all of us can do: Try to be happy within the context of the life we are actually living. Happiness is not a situation to be longed for or a convergence of lucky happenstance. Through the power of our own minds, we can help ourselves.

TUTANKHAMUN IN VIENNA

Mask of Tutankhamun's mummy, the popular icon for ancient Egypt

TUTANKHAMUN
and the World of the Pharaohs

Tutankhamun (1341 BC – 1323 BC) was one of the last kings of Egypt’s 18th Dynasty and ruled during a crucial, turmoil-filled period of Egyptian history He was only 8 years old when he began his rule and the boy king died under mysterious circumstances around age 18 or 19, in the ninth year of his reign (1323 B.C.). Only recent research discovered that he wasn‘t murdered but died because of an accident breaking his leg. His importance is due to his tomb, which uniquely was discovered almost completely intact in the Valley of the Kings-- the most complete ancient Egyptian tomb ever found

”Since the discovery of his tomb in 1922, Tutankhamun has captured the hearts of people around the world. Buried with him were treasures beyond the imagination, giving us a glittering glimpse into the past an now, Tutankhamun has returned to give a new generation the chance to learn firsthand about the life and magic of this ancient monarch.”

Step by step, visitors come closer to the treasures of Tutankhamun and the world of the mysterious Pharaoh. Each of the four galleries devoted to the boy king corresponds to the four rooms of his nearly intact tomb, where the treasures were discovered by British explorer Howard Carter in 1922. Legendary artefacts from the antechamber, the annex, the treasury and the burial chamber include Tutankhamun's golden sandals, jewellery, furniture, weaponry and statuary.

The exhibition includes the largest image of King Tut ever found -- a three- metre statue that originally may have stood at Tutankhamun's mortuary temple, and that still retains much of its original paint. There is also the canopic coffinette inlaid with gold and precious stones, one of the four that contained his mummified internal organs.
